This past weekend was the annual Texas Packard meet held at Salado, Texas. There were somewhere around 30 vehicles there for the public showing on Saturday. Being new to the whole Packard scene, this was actually my first time seeing a Packard in person. So needless to say, I was like a kid in a candy store and took almost 140 pictures. I thought you might like to see a few, so here are some of my favorites.

1954 Caribbean

1937 Super Eight Dietrich Convertible Limo
<img src="http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/6835/dsc01006v.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/><br/>

1937(?) 120 (not sure)
<img src="http://img106.imageshack.us/img106/1817/dsc01009i.jpg" alt="Image Hosted by ImageShack.us"/><br/>

I'm not sure on a few of the years and models, so if I've got anything wrong, feel free to correct me. Overall it was a great opportunity for me to get my feet wet and experience first-hand what a Packard is. I have to say pictures don't really do a Packard justice; it's one thing to see one on a page, but to look at one with your own eyes...stunning.

kevinpackard, you were almost correct on the photos. The 1927(2) is a 1928 Open Touring. It was originally bought by the current owner's father, sold, bought back, and restored. The 1937(?) 120 is a 1936 120B Club Sedan. It is like the same car my father drove during WW-II. It was not registered for the meet. I also took photos of all the windshield information labels and Packards, and like last year, will get a CD to Kevin to post on the site for all to enjoy. Did we meet? I brought the 1937 Six Convertible Coupe. It was a great meet, but the weather on Saturday was not enjoyable.

Thanks for the corrections. I believe I remember your car...is this the one?

I don't think that I met you, but you probably saw me walking around with my wife (who is 7 months pregnant) taking pictures. I was also the only shmuck wearing a t-shirt out there...I wasn't counting on the wind being that cold.

Nice car by the way.

kevinpackard, nice photo of the 115C. Thanks. I don't remember seeing you or your wife. Luckily, I brought a windbreaker jacket, should have brought a parka.

Also for others who were not there, on display were two special projects in process: A 1940 Super Darin Convertible Sedan, and cli55's 1955 Clipper TL chassis. Both generated much interest.

Dave, I took several photos of the car and will get them posted. According to the information provided it was built at Central Motors (the old Auburn plant) in Connersville, Ind. by Darrin. My knowledge of Darrin-Packard history is pretty thin, so don't know if Darrin was directly involved at this time. The owner and restorers had a photo book of the car showing when it was new at the Earl C. Anthony dealership in Los Angeles, later in 1962 in Phoenix, Ariz., later in the '70s after its first restoration. Also brought to the meet was a copy of an engineering drawing provided by Packard to body builders. I took several photos of this too, but not sure of their quality. This is a significant Packard, and we were fortunate to have it at the meet. I will get the photos downloaded and share them with the folks. Maybe, kevinpackard has some photos of the Darrin he could share.

kevinpackard, through a stupid act I forgot to replace the master cylinder cap when we were bleeding the rear brakes. The brake fluid splashed on the fenders, and by the time I noticed it, the paint had been ruined. It will require refinishing of the fender. I know better, but got stupid and will now pay the price. Thanks for not sharing a photo of this with the folks.

Thanks for all the great pictures. I like the pictures of the '54 showing the external A/C vents on the rear quarters. Something you almost never ever see.
