Kevin, I have a suggestion for your doors opening too far and hitting the front fenders. My 1930 Ford Model A Roadster (Hot Rod) had straps fastened to the lower front of the doors with the other end fastened to the door frame. The length of the straps would determine how far the door would swing open. They were made out of the same material as the seat coverings; although, leather straps would work nicely too. They are a simple and easy way to control the swing. You may want to consider using them until a decision is made about the shape of the front fenders. Maybe these straps are offered by Model A parts suppliers. By the way, I think the shape of the fenders is most attractive and would not change them. Loving this project.

John, yes I was thinking about figuring out some type of door check. A leather one would look nice, only worry I'd have is about any stretching over time.

As far as I know the Model A straps are available in at least three lengths, namely 6, 7, and 8 inches Some of the Model As used a steel door stop with a generous rubber bumper . . . meaning adding or reducing the bumper length would make it adjustable. If you step back to the Model T they used a woven web material nailed to the door frame. Lots of ‘non-leather’ options, but clearly some manufacture’s used leather, and since most of the time it only servers as a gentle reminder the life will likely out last most of us. The leather belts on the trunks, and hoods have an exceptionally long life.

Hey Kev. Got some info for ya. I was friend of Mark’s here in Nashville for 35 years and transported a lot of things for him. One was your ‘37 project. I’m new to the forum as of today but will try to list following pictures:
On my truck March 1, 2013 when it arrived from California
At Mark’s Westmoreland, Tennessee farm on November 8, 2022 when I brought it from farm to Mark’s garage at the Fire hall in Nashville
In front of the fire hall November 8, 2022where Mark’s brother, Bill, is airing up the tires

Kev, I did shorten my straps about an inch one time to make up for the stretch. As previously posted, a good leather strap should work well for a long time.

I too watched Mark do the restoration work on the 38 Packard and it left a strong and positive impression on me. It was one of the earliest and comprehensive series on in-depth car restoration. He was a pioneer.

Kev - unfortunately I don’t know either where in California the ‘37 was shipped from or who the owner/shipper was. I met the multi car rig just a few miles from Mark’s fire hall shop and made the transfer onto my truck. Mark was really excited when he told me he had a “very special” one coming in from California and couldn’t wait for me to bring it to him. Also the date would have been around 2003 just before I sold that truck in 2005. I am super excited to find the blog you are doing on this car and that you are documenting it’s progress!

Jess, thanks for the info. It is most appreciated. Besides the custom work on the fenders and the running board remkv. It's amazing how much of the cars patina has gone unchanged.

Kev - just remembered that the acorn nuts for the Jaguar cam cover that was loose were in a baggie and put in rumble seat with the cam cover when the car left Nashville on the transporter. So they might be back there under something. Good luck.
