Thanks for the report, Al. I'll have to go in on the next run for 2 or 3 of these. Does it have the brushed finish for the background where it's labelled "STARTER"?

Glad the provision for the little white lens was retained. I like how it shows you the opening for the key at night.

You can probably add the brushed look easily with some very fine wet sand paper under running water.

Was wondering about such an approach, but gotta figure out the right grit and some kind of tool/mandrel to get the same look.

I would buy a sandpaper pack on Amazon and start at 3000. I'm sure the right grit will be over 1000.

Crin, I've not been able to get replies through PM or direct email so I'll ask here. When will I get my original NOS bezel back? The reproductions arrived and look good but the one I loaned for the project was not there and I need it returned.

The slot for light lens will need a little work with file for plastic piece to fit. The plastic part is easy to remove from old bezel with small screwdriver.

Al,

Looks like the slot might need to be made a little deeper, as well, but it almost looks too wide as it is now. Hiwever, Al has since told me, privately, that the slot is intentionally tapered on the OE part.

I think the only way you could get more detailed is if one were to model from an original with all the plating stripped off, but I don't see that happening.

I'd like to get in on the next run.

After looking at reproduction and original I have with broken tabs think mould for repro may have had the plastic insert left in. Not a complaint as pretty sure a little file work or dremel tool work could fix any problems

I finally got my NOS bezel back that was used for this project and was aghast to see that as mentioned above the lens was left in place and molded into the metal. This is totally unacceptable and useless that way! As I recall, there was also a little clip or wire holding the lens in place but that’s gone now so not only do I have a couple pieces of garbage but my original is now ruined too.
