Rebuilding these straighties is a dying art, so anyone contemplating, needs to take note here what you could be in for. It will only get worse with time as the engine technology diverges... Not sure what will be the case with EV, aka "volts"wagons, predominating.
I'm not a prewaree, so not sure if sleeving is an option, but very common in rebuilds. Cast can be repaired but also a dying trade, few options. Deep pockets can still bleed/leak. Once it's scrapped it's no longer recoverable nor number matching.

Thanks for all the responses. This is truly the place to be for help on Packards. I have been offered 3 cylinders blocks. I have traveled to Amarillo Tx and purchased a full engine. BTW Max Merritt had a guaranteed cylinder block, for a price$$$. So it seams that Packards will never die if you have enough money to keep them going.
Also, there are plenty of qualified and unqualified machinist to rebuild in line engines. One should get recomendations before hiring one. BTW you can build a "Parade motor" or a "driving motor". Both can look Concourse, buyer beware.
