Working on getting engine number to confirm but based on counting the bolts on the water jacket plate, this engine is more likely 35-36 SUPER 8. The gentleman who advised me as such is a longtime PAC member and has tentatively called dibs if so...but if you have a better story than wanting a spare engine as a coffee table in your mancave we will listen.

I would have to take off my socks to count the spare engines, I think.
I would have asked since it's not too far from Out West for safekeeping, but it'd be better to go to a forever home. Like as not, I'll never own something from that era. Besides, I prefer monoblocks.

Hello, WILL THIS ENGINE FIT A 1939 PACKARD THAT HAD A SUPER 8 3 SPEED ENGINE/TRANSSMISSION ? DOES YOUR PHOTO ALSO SHOW A RADIATOR TO THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE ? DOES ENGINE TURN ? WHAT REASONABLE PRICE DO YOU HAVE ON IT ? AND IT IS LOCATED IN NASHVILLE TENNESSI ? I AM LOOKING AT A 1939 PACKARD SUPER 8 LIMO THAT HAS NO ENGINE NOW.
PLEASE RESPOND TO WEEDSNBUGS@AOL.COM , THANK YOU, MARCEL G. ROBATTO PS : I WOULD LIKE TO BUY THE 1939 PACKARD I MENTION ABOVE BUT, NOT IF I CANNOT FIND AN ENGINE FOR IT FIRST.

No, a 1935-36 Super 8 engine will not fit in a 1939 Super 8. It's an entirely different engine, 3-1/2" bore versus 3-3/16 bore just one of many differences.

1. The 36 Super 8 engine went to the right home.
2. I have no 39 super 8 engines in stock right now. the last one I had sold for $15,000. I don't know if you understand fully what you are asking for - this is primarily a 1 year only engine. 3. Your next best option would be to put a 120 motor in the car. I can supply this motor...no problem. This would maintain the most originality and you could call it a 120 Deluxe... this would also save you thousands on the dashboard. 4. finally the most usable option may be to go with a late model drive train- any number of suggestions would be appropriate and affordable. You would also be able to have air conditioning and a drivable automatic. OK I see it on Facebook. Good car for the money. Buy with the intention of modern drivetrain. The other parts car is that....if you really want a 39 Super8 motor, there it is, ready for a deep dunk in the money bucket. 5. If you really want a 39 Super 8 motor, get ahold of Fran Zak.

G'day WEEDSNBUGS,
to PackardInfo. Is this the Packard you want the '39 Engine and Trans for? Looks a decent car. If it is, I invite you to include in PackardJnfo's Packard Vehicle Registry if/when you purchase it.
