Looking up under the car today I noticed that the parking brake equalizer shaft needed to go through one of the holes in the intermediate drive shaft support bracket and there were two holes to choose from but neither on center. Also, these seems like a rattle waiting to happen!

I flipped over the tank to paint the bottom side and realized I hadn’t cleaned it so quickly got that done. Not as thorough as the other side but it got the job done and is now coated too.

I'd think it would go through the center hole. My guess is the offset hole may be for a retainer for some kind of anti-rattle bushing or spring.

The bearing I was waiting for arrived late this afternoon so had to make the long dash to Napa to fetch it in pouring rain and limited visibility. It is now installed but I am not sure where the overdrive harness support strap goes as it looks awkward here. Is it in the proper place but oriented incorrectly or does it go somewhere else?

Perhaps those two holes held a bracket which supported the equalizer shaft?

Good thought but none of mine ever had a bracket there. The holes are also rather large but close together for anything to be attached. Unfortunately parts books are lacking on Henney details relating to the driveshaft.

No answers yet on the question a few posts back about the overdrive harness clip’s location and I’m be installing the transmission within the hour so kind of need to know while it’s still accessible! See the photo of where I have it but it doesn’t look right and seems it would interfere with the shift arm. Can someone please advise with some surety where it should be?

Thank you, Ross. I am thinking now that it goes under the lower solenoid bolt as that makes more sense.

Leaving today and the shop is now all closed up but yesterday I did get the transmission back in and frontmost u-joint on. The yoke itself seems to be in UPS limbo in Bend, OR with every day saying Preparing for Delivery rather than Out for Delivery which means it’s actually on the truck so didn’t get it to completely install the rest of the shaft. The transmission is supposed to have an adapter on it to change from the Mechanics type flange here to the Spicer loop-type u-joint but, until I locate the adapter, I’ll use the u-joint shown.

On another front - the roof - I may have located a better housing for the siren as the one I have was damaged. This replacement has some stress cracks, though, so I won’t know if it’s repairable until I send it and my damaged casting to the plater in Washington State. The first one is mine and the second is the replacement followed by the casting to which it attaches. The damage on mine isn’t really obvious in the first photo but it is distorted badly in multiple directions and even the attaching holes at the edge were ripped.
