Howard --pushing 64
First Packard was a 51 400 which father delegated as my driver in HS. Great car which suffered tremendously at my hands and was still going when I left New Mexico. Dad then sold it to someone who drove it for several more years. First Packard I actually bought was a 56 Pat in 1974. Since then in order those I can recall: 47 custom 40 160 touring 63 Avanti the 47 same Custom again 64 Hawk 56 Exec 51 300 56 Caribb 54 Pacific another 47 Custom. Some bought, sold but most traded between friends after restoring or fixing as needed. A couple of those friends and I between us also had 35-40 parts cars of various years and NOS parts from several dealers--until the county got pissed and we got rid of most of it. Varied modern iron -- both company and personal drivers. Currently down to the 56 Caribbean HT which had a body off experience and the 47 Custom which is in pieces.

I am 65. Bought my first and only Packard, an unrestored 1947 Super Clipper in 2002. It is my only collector car unless my '83 Volvo 240 counts as one also.
Living in the Canadian north since my late teens I had no need to own as car since there were no roads so my main passion was Noorduyn Norseman and DHC Beaver bushplanes. I didn't buy a car until 1965 (1952 Chrysler Windsor for $200) when I went south to attend the Ontario Ranger School to become a game warden. In 1966 I bought a 1947 Cadillac 75 limo for $300 off of a car lot in Sudbury Ont. so I guess that was my first "collector" car.

I am 61. The 51 300 is the first Packard I have owned. Had a high school friend who bought a 49 sedan for $15.00. Remember going with him at 6:00 AM on his paper rout. My first car (given to me) was a 57 chevy 210 station wagon. The first car I bought was a 55 Desoto for $50.00. Was fresh out of Navy boot camp in 1967 and needed transportation. I don't think I can remember all the cars I've owned (over 30 of them) but here goes the list.
1931 Model A coupe 1930 Model A coupe 1930 Model A pick up Basket case 1935 Cad V-8 4 door 1960 Cad 4 door Another 55 Desoto 1959 Rambler American Wagon 1957 Chevy 2 door Wagon 1957 Chevy 4 door 6 cylinder 1962 Chevy ll 6 cyl 1967 Chevy ll wagon 6 cyl 1969 Pont Cat wagon 1970 Chevy Wagon 1951 Studebaker State Commander Stair-light Coup. 1955 Olds Super 88 Hardtop 1956 Ford f100 Pickup 1952 Dodge Pickup 1965 VW Bug 1963 VW Bug 1967 VW square back 1974 Chevy Van. (still drive) 1976 Lincoln Mark 4 1973 Dodge Charger ( still Drive) 1951 Packard 300 1947 Cushman scooter (for good measure) 1959 Cushman Eagle (same) I know there are more but my memory fails me. Just remembered the 1977 Old Cutlas I bought new.

Sounds like I'm a Senior member. I'm 70 and like Dave I like Beaver Bush. I know little about airplanes though. I've had many Packards and been driving one of my own since I was 18. All my Packards have been 51-56. Given the amount I paid for them they were all great cars. If you see me at a show or cruise anywhere, give me a poke in the ribs and I'll buy you a cup of coffee.
