1934 Super 8 1105 parts car. Ad states car was originally a limo Body No. 755, Sedan-Limousine. This was the longest wheelbase model (147 inches) in 1934. Very rough and incomplete. Most of the body is gone or heavily rusted due to long term outdoor exposure, but drive train appears mostly intact. Ware, Massachusetts:

1941 120 Sedan. Looks like a decent car which would only need some minor work to be roadworthy. Major drawback is the horribly incorrect black vinyl interior. Kansas City, MO area:

1936 120 Convertible Coupe. Recent cosmetic restoration completed with new paint, top and interior. I was interested this car and corresponded earlier with the seller. Interesting back story as the car has been in the same family for over 60 years and apparently, it was a very solid, well maintained original car prior to restoration. 1938 120 Convertible Coupe project car. Ad says it is a '38 but has '40 front clip. No drill outs for the '40 side mouldings and I am seeing a '38-'39 grille shell in the back seat area, so maybe you will only need to find the correct front fenders. Think this car came out of the C. Lewis Ablelove collecton. Body looks exceptionally solid, but it needs everything. I've looked for a '38 120 convertible coupe for years and have only found two that were unrestorable wrecks compared to this one, so it is a very rare car. If anyone on this forum is interested in taking this one on, please let me know. Car is located in Albany, NY.

A part of me really wants to get that '48 Custom Eight Convertible Victoria. Yes it would be a project, but it would be a blast to rebuild that car right, and bring it back from the dead. And the convertibles had the best lines of all models of those years IMO.

Someone talk me out of it.

Fred says, "do it." She just texted me. She also said to get for under $6K and reminded us all that it's always a good day not to overpay for Packard stuff.

I won't be talking you out of it, but you won't get it for under $6k. This is the car from the Louis Abelove auction (hope I spelled correctly) a couple years or so ago. It sold then for just under $6k +10%, then he bought tires and a few other things it seems. It was bid to over $7k just a week or two ago and didn't sell there. A month ago, he had another, much better condition and a lot of NOS chrome. That one sold for over $18k (that surprised me). These have a small but dedicated following.

Your biggest challenge will be the chrome around the trunk lid. Mine was missing only the center connector but I found a guy who made me one.

Good luck going after it! My favorite postwar Packard. If you do and post a thread, I would like to compare notes. Mine is an early one too, though that one is really early in production. It will also get my butt in gear on it... though my wife will not like me taking time from the house remodel/addition I'm doing!

If your looking for a convertible, we know where a 42 120 Convertibles is lurking that was FULLY taken apart for resto. Needs to be finished and reasembled. Has restored chassis and engine. Body tub in primer.

The 1948 Custom Eight Convertible Victoria was Lot #188 at the C. Lewis Ablelove auction (Phase 1) that was held in November 2021. Hammer price was $5,250. Commissions were an astounding 22%. There was a second auction (Phase 2) that was held in April of last year. I participated in that auction and bid on one of the vehicles but ended up being significantly outbid. When you factor in the high commission, I think a lot of people ended up overpaying on many of the cars, particularly the better ones. But for the most part, the cars were really rough and would be challenging restorations. Many were just parts cars.

Think I might have found out why the chrome trunk lid mouldings are missing from the Custom Eight. Here is a rear view of the car from the auction catalog. Notice the Ultramatic Drive chrome script on the trunk lid. We all know that Ultramatic Drive was not available until the 23rd series, yet this is an early 22nd series car. Also, note the absence of the holes for the moulding clips. My guess is that the car was rear-ended at some point, and the deck lid was replaced with one from a 23rd series car. The 23rd Series Custom 8's still had the deck lid mouldings, so this one must be off of a lower priced model like a Standard or a Deluxe.

Agree that it will be a challenge to find the missing mouldings to complete this restoration.
