The parts book would probably answer that for you and it is available either as a PDF in the Literature Archive or in database Forman in the Factory Parts List.

I am fairly certain that the cylinder heads are interchangeable however doing so would change the compression ratio

I own a 327 9 main one from a 54 Patrician, I agree the head is the same as you can see where the 288 was milled off the head casting and 327 stamped onto it.
I would bet a lot of other parts such as fuel pump, oil pump, flywheel/clutch, water pump, generator/starter, distributor, carb/air cleaner, bell housing etc. would swap. Likely exhaust/intake manifold. You have the benefit too of having the correct engine so you could check part to part to verify Bob J

Hi, thanks for the input. So far, according the the specifications book I have. Here is what I have found for reference. Compression 7 to 1 both, Cam bearings 5, both. Crank 5 mains both. Journal dia, 2.7465, both. Connecting rod journal dia, 2.250 both. Piston size 3 1/64 x 7/8" both. Distributor Autolite, and Delco same numbers both. Bore 3 1/2 both. Only stroke is different the 288 is 3 3/4 and the 327 is 4 1/4. So far, so good.

The heads are indeed physically interchangeable but without care such a change will also change the compression ratio.

Good News; I did find an intake and exhaust set up on a 1951 300 or 400 the person was will to part with for a very reasonable cost. Plus he is going to take them off for me at no extra cost. I thank you all for your advise, and information.
You are all a valuable resource for so many of us. Dave O
