Snopro’s 53 Patrician Project

Here’s my latest project. A 53 patrician I rescued from a certain death in a snowbank in the corner of a used car dealers back lot about a year ago. I couldn’t tell much as far as the condition was when I picked it up as it was about -20 degrees out and the car had about 2 feet of snow covering it. Needless to say I drug it on the rollback and hauled it home anyways! Not sticking with 100% original as that’s not why I purchased it. Just wanted a neat old cruiser that will be back on the road and enjoyed instead of sent to the crusher!

It’s much rougher than the first picture looks. Lost half the paint from the roof and trunk on the trip home. Oh well! But fast forward a year later and it now runs, drives, and stops. Gained a little attitude by lowering the altitude a bit to my liking! Working on interior and replacing some cracked windows now! This is how it
Currently sits in my shop.

The interior is rough! It’s a shame because it appears at one point it was redone but years of improper storage and the mice did a number on it!

A little vacuum and some fabric cleaner for the sole purpose to tone down the smell of mice! Got the headliner ripped out as well which was destroyed and full of mouse treasures.

See if you can find an ozone machine to borrow. Stick it inside the car, close the doors and windows, and let it rip all night. That'll drastically reduce the smell.

Where can you find these? I tried looking earlier for my 400 but I wasn't able to find much. Who owns them?

I actually do own an ozone machine, I’ll toss that in there for a while. I got mine from Amazon a few years back, was under $200 if I recall correctly. Works pretty good, had used it in my plow truck that was also riddled with mice when I acquired it.

Amazon if you want to buy your own. Or check with a local detailer. A lot of those guys have one as part of their deep cleaning arsenal. I took my seats out (car wasn't running at the time) and dropped them off with a detailer. He built a quick tent from tarps then bombed then with the ozone generator for a night or two. Came back smelling MUCH better. Not perfect, but a huge improvement. The rest of the smell disappeared over the next year.

And, it is a manual transmission car based on it having a clutch pedal. Does it have overdrive? No power brakes either. Neat.
