Website - Outage

I was just informed by my hosting provider needs to move my server to a new data center. This is supposed to happen in the next 24hrs. As such the websites IP address also is going to change. So there maybe some outage as the new IP address propagates.

I would recommend not adding a new content to forums until I give the thumbs up as they are making a copy of the server right now, so anything added new to current server will not be carried to new server.

If you are reading this, then you are viewing the server at the new Data Center, and everything should be back up and functional. Thank you!

Well, this was unplanned. They messaged me and said they forgot to notify me that their contract with Data Center A was expiring and that they needed to move me to Data Center B. Which ok, fine I understand. But then it was they needed to do this in the next hour as their contract expired today. I wasn't even through my first cup of coffee when that sheepish email hit my Inbox. If I had been away or traveling, that would have been a huge issue. The biggest pain is changing the IP address, as that requires several changes to DNS records, name servers, propagation, etc.

Let's just say there was some colorful language spoken at 7 am CT.

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

I pay a lot of extra money for a static IP but I think that’s presuming the server doesn’t change. If it did, likely the IP would change with it. Anyway, I think I speak for everyone when I say Thank You for all you do!
