Nice first day but at the end of it we had been up for over 36hrs so we were wiped out.

Tom and Ray met collected us at the airport and took us to a nice reception and luncheon at Tom's museum (Classics Museum) in Hamilton. He loaned us a 36 Auburn Convertible Sedan and a 33 Packard Super Eight Touring sedan to drive while we are down here. After the Museum we drove to Taupo where we had a nice dinner and then we all crashed out.

36 hours is a long time. Your sleep will then have been very deep and restful.
The museum I like. The exhibits are not enclosed in sterile glass coffins. The proportion of European small cars is remarkably large. Among them I also recognize several vehicles from the 1950s and 1960s in Germany that are powered by two-stroke engines. People were much slimmer than they are today.
Thank you very much for the photos.

Enjoy your trip Kev. When I was there in 2014 I drove from Auckland to Napier and called in at the Museum in Hamilton.

One the gents here restored this 1938 Diamond-T Texaco Tanker truck that came from South Carolina. Here are a couple of shots of it. We also caught up with it when coming down from Hamilton.

Also, here is the name of one of the towns here. But luck with the pronunciation.

Good for you. Those are some beautiful cars!

I always wanted a '38 or '39 Packard Super 8 convertible sedan, after reading a novel called The Last Convertible, which featured that car and the characters that drifted in and out of the life of the vehicle.

I'll never own one, but have a couple of Junior models, and that's enough for me.

Tom was the gent who was nice enough to lend us some of his vehicles for our entire trip here in New Zealand.

Check out his sweet Lagonda.
