Could use some guidance in removing hood ornament with base from my 1939 120. I have loosened up the nut at the top/rear of the radiator shell and hood ornament is now some what loose. How do I proceed from here? Parts book illustration does not show good detail on how it is attached.

IF it is like the '37, the base not only has the two fasteners, but they are keyhole slots. I went through my pictures and realized I never took a shot of the rad shell that shows the top very well. I have the two below of the same image, with the one cropped in on the base keyholes. Hope this helps explain it, but again, things may have changed by 39.

Loosen the center hood trim, slide it back a little bit. Then, slide your hood ornament back. May take a good bump with the palm of your hand. It's only held in by friction.

If it slid forward it would be easy to steal! Anyway, I always thought that the way these were attached was rather ingenious in the simplicity.
