All finished. The Auto City Classics tank is nearly identical to my 54 tank. There is evidently a lot of global foundries in Taiwan that make gas tanks for the U.S. market. The sending unit ACC sent did not work, however I did have one from Max Merritt / Kanter on hand. I sprayed Boeshield T-9 on the tank but it was probably unnecessary. I added the ground and cut the hole to the specs provided from the Forum. Almost perfect. The 70 year old cork on the old unit looked decimated and the old tank had some nice sludge in it. The filler neck lined up perfectly. A Gates G37 cap fits as well.

TC (54packpac), two months from the idea to realization, congratulations, that was really fast and the result is impressive.

I would add jam nuts or self locking nuts on the gas tank straps. The hardware may need re-tightend after the car has run a hundred miles or so.

Turns out the new strap bolts are metric. M10/ 17mm nylon locking nut works perfect. The gauge appears spot on now. First time since 1961.....

A couple years ago I bought a pair of brake cylinders from Napa for my 1954 Patrician and, while the same part number and box, one had a metric bleeder hex while the other did not although the threads were the same. The mounting holes on both were also the proper threads so something of a hybrid.
