I don't know about you guys, but I use spare $50 bills to wipe the oil off the dipstick when I check it. 100's if I don't have a 50 handy.

Use 1Β’ paper towel... waste 1Β’.

Use $50 bill... still worth $50.

A paper towel is a little too rough and too thick but also doesn't have the structure to pull through cleanly. You need something thin and smooth. Personally I use a very thin piece of Mylar sheeting for things like that as it's virtually indestructible as I ran out of $50s and $100s long ago.
