My bushing were OK. The only ones I replaced were the sway bar ones as mine were toasted.

A shot from yesterday. Both the toe-in and camber needed attention. The camber was negative on the drivers side and positive on the passenger side. We'll that explains the pull to the right.

I had to show the mechanic how to remove the skirts so he could mount the alignment heads to rear wheels. He didn't want to remove them himself with checking with me.

It was a nice shop. $85 well spent.

Local show...more than one Packard!

Orphan cars were the theme this year. These pics are early on, but we are currently over 400 different cars in attendance.

We were at the GIRCCA/Packard Picnic today. The rain that fell shortly before the event scared away the classic cars, but not us. We ford rivers in Packards, so a little rain didn't stop us! It turned into a beautiful day.

Took the '54 on a 100 mile round trip drive to have dinner with a few other Packard Club Members. Rain was expected, so we left the '37 at home.

It rained on us on the way home.

But when we came out of the restaurant, the '54 wouldn't start. No action from the starter. Before this I noticed the shifter was feeling a bit weird when put in reverse and park.

The very rare, 2 month only, GearStart only neutral safety swtich decided to self destruction and seize, and which then caused the little piece of linkage to mangle itself.

So we man handled the swtich to the correct position so we could start the car again. After that an uneventful drive home in the rain.

Well, nice job figuring out the problem and being able to get it going to get home, I suspect many of us would have had a tow truck involved.

The "crunchy" shifter action was my first clue. I had something like that before, but it was with the little linkage that drives the gear indicator pointer on the steering column.

Glad I didn't have to pull that apart in the parking lot.

Luckily, the GearStart natural safety switch is mounted on top of steering column, near the firewall in the engine bay. So very visible and easy to reach.

It was already mangled 19 years ago when I got the car. So I jury-rigged some linkage back then. It lasted that long before the swtich itself decided to seize up.

The hiccup last night didn't stop us from having both cars out at local show this morning.

We each took home a "TOP 40" plaque.

Spitted a little rain here and there, but otherwise a good show.
