So this is what the loose rattling one front drivers side looks like:

The car is supposed to have 4, I'm missing 2 of them

Fixed a nagging issue with the passenger door. It was rubbing and the top rear corner. The front gap was even. So it wasn't a henge issue.

So I figured it must be body alignment. So got under the car and loosen the inner and outer body mounts under the B-pillar, and two just forward of the rear fender.

With those loose, I used a 2x4 on a floor jack to lift the body from underneath as close to b-pillar as possible and started lifting. Right away I could tell this was the solution. I had to jack it up more than need to give me enough space to slide in the body shim, on the outer b-pillar mount. I think this shim was about 1/8" thick.

Back down and now it's looking pretty good. You no longer have to throw your weight against the door to get it to open from the inside.

Even in a field of 750 cars at a large show we were at the 37 always had people around it. I've warned my wife that once its painted it won't have the same oddity factor.

But apparently they liked it:

Added to the correct project blog:

So.....if I'm reading this correctly, these tires were made in 1995. (29 years old)

I belive one of the fronts needs to be balanced, and I'm pretty no tire shop is going to touch them due to age. So looks like a cheapo replacement set of tires will be called for to hold the car through the rest of the resto. We will worry pretty tires later.

Being a 16" wheel, options on the cheap side are pretty limited. The tires currently on there are General 7.00x16LT tube tires. General doesn't even make that size anymore.

This was the closest cheap tire I could find that still appears narrow enough and has about a 30" diameter.

simpletire.com/brands/power-king-tires/s ... y-ii#v=1&tireSize=6.50-16&mpn=wld32

Which is a 6.50-16 97L C tubeless tire.

The very cheap 7.50-16LT tires on my 1951 Henney-Packard seem massive to me although this car is far heavier than your 115. Even so, they have more plies than needed but for yours, buying name brand antique car tires in the proper 6.50-16 size may be the only choice as LTs are overkill.

I'm trying to find some chest/trunk hardware similar to these. It doesn't have to be exact, but just same general style/type.

The draw latches are skinny and the one in the middle locks.

And for reference, this is the trunk I picked up at Hershey for a decent price. It's not a Packard trunk. But, it's an all steel trunk and I like it's not as tall as the Packard one would be, so I think proportionally looks better with a coupe body.

But the latches need to be replaced.

In other news, I ordered these 6.50 x 16 tires for the '37. These will suit the car during the restoration process, and we will look at "pretty" tires later. I got an entire set, shipped for $388. These will go on the nicer, pinstriped, spare wheels I have, and then I can get everything balanced. The existing tires are 25-year-old and no tire shop will touch them.

These are light truck tires but are the closest match to what is on the car now, and they do not require tubes. The don't have to be pretty, just round.
