The 54 convertible from Alabama has a front clip that doesn't match the rest of the car. Wonder if it was in an accident at some point. It doesn't appear to have a windshield. They don't say whether all the trim is included.
Price is high considering that everything on this car needs to be redone.

Missing the vent windows too. Not sure of the doors or rear quarter windows either. Way too expensive for the condition it's in. Sub-$5,000 is probably more reasonable. This would be a very expensive car to restore.

longjohn: you are right about the front end on the '54 being different from the rest of the car. Must be off of a '53 because it has the plain headlight rings and not the finned ones used on a '54 Senior series car. But most of the other parts are the same. Could be due to accident damage, so I would want to carefully inspect the frame. It still looks like a good project, but $12,500 is definitely too much and that windshield is going to be expensive to replace. I'm assuming it's not there.

Couple more listings:

1946 Clipper Eight Sedan. Looks like a really nice driver. Good paint, chrome and interior and looks quite elegant in solid black. I don't see any significant issues. Seller asking $16K. Washington State:

1942 Clipper Eight Sedan. Complete, unrestored car which unfortunately has quite a bit of rust. See bad floors and significant rust in the front fenders under the headlights which is a problem area with these cars. Left rear fender pretty badly bashed up but rest of body looks straight. Definitely doable. Seller was going to use it to build a Douglas MacArthur staff car replica but ended up abandoning the project before doing any work. Asking $3,500. Idaho:

1939 Six Coupe. Ad states car was frame off restored in 2012. Looks great, but not sure bright red paint job is totally correct. Seller asking $17,500. West Covina, CA:

I noticed that too. It appears to be a 1953 Clipper clip.

Packard Don. Took another look at the photos for the '54 Convertible from Alabama. The grille center bar is smooth so it must be from a Clipper. As we all know, the 1953 and 1954 Senior models had a grooved center grille section. Another thing that will have to be replaced. This one could get expensive and fast. Wonder what else is either missing or wrong. But the body shell itself looks exceptionally straight, so at least you have that to work with. I see so many of these 1951-54 ragtops that are total rust buckets. Had one myself once (a '51) and I ended up losing a lot of money on it.

Actually I have the parts necessary to convert it back to a senior grille. I used to have the taillights too which were specific to the Convertible and to the Pacific but I sold them some years back.

The 39 Coupe in West Covina looks like a very decent car. I think I see a overdrive lockout button under the dash, so that would be a definite plus. That paint is really red! Packard offered a red in 38 but not in 39. Closest they had in 39 was two choices of maroon.

For those curious, here are the paint colors for 1939 according to the sampler.

I think that the color of that '39 is called "Resale Red". It's used for cars going to auction because it attracts attention. Have seen it before on some classic cars, particularly convertibles. Wish people would use only factory authentic colors if they are restoring a car.

I definitely agree with trying to stay true to original colors though I will grudgingly admit I have seen some non-traditional paint jobs, even with modern twists, that I seem to stick wit the spirit of the car. Of course, I think Packard people generally are more traditional and purists which I appreciate. It's not that different than when you see these social media "stars" do wraps or non-factory paint on their supercars-- cringe IMO.

My 41 Clipper looks like it has a paint job from that period but after some research that combo was not available in that year but I believe post war (maybe 42 as well). Luckily, I can see the original paint color on the bottom half and from that tell the entire body was that color (no 2 tone). At some point, it will be getting at least the original paint job.
