Still I don't think I'm certain you aligned it properly.
Is your oil pan dented way in or something? It should not hit the pan but it might get close. I would guesstimate it's about 5/16 between the arm and pan in reverse. Drawing shows Park, note the arc drawn which is the swing angle. Here is a video of the linkage operation. This one is kind of loose but it shows you.youtube.com/shorts/8VWbsWP6gmA?si=NLFC9LZKY-UjmBNx If you put it in park then simply rock it "over the hump" you are in Neutral, then you should click into H, D, L, R in succession. R should feel the same, you should not feel a "ting" before it seats properly. Only if you turn it slightly past R should you feel resistance.
