Don there was no rubber left in my dovetails either, I used black Goop to replace the rubber, has worked well and you know the beating driver's doors take. It is an RTV but is really tough and specific for automotive. I have also used in an under-hood application on my new(er) car and it is still working 10 years later. (Of course, yours in the States will not have any French on it!)

Are your door front different? That group references rear doors.

I always thought the dovetails were 30.442, which is the door, and its corresponding receiver on the door jam.

All four doors are the same and look like what is shown in 30.465 (and my photo)

Bob J - Thanks. The rubber isn’t gone on mine, but it is separating from the metal. The Goop may be what I need to just bond it all together well. I’m also going to call Max Merritt and talk to them. They may be a little more knowledgeable than Steele for the Packard specific applications.

I talked to Fred at Max Merritt...He had more knowledge of the strike plates than Steele did. He said that the only strike plates where revulcanizing service is available is for the convertible models.

For the closed cars, your best option is to restore the best you can.

With that, mine aren't in too bad of condition and I think a little glue will have them outlast me.

I have a couple of questions for the group.

First, for my window channels, I know I need rigid run for between the front wing window and front window. For the rear windows and rear/top of the front windows, do I need rigid run or flexible run channel. I know that everything on my car is currently beaded.

Second, is related to the trunk weatherstripping. The parts list calls for two different parts. One that glues into the channel on the body of the car and one that glues into the channel on the trunk lid. What has everyone used?

Just bumping this one. Can anyone elaborate on the difference between the two different trunk seals?

I've never seen that. Usually it's one side or the other.

Does the channel run complete around the entire perimeter?

If not, I could see where there is a piece in the channel on let's say three sides, and the a piece on the trunk on the 4th side.

But you'd have to have someone with a sedan answer that for sure.

Does Steele show any images of what the pieces look like?

Steel sells several different seals, but doesn’t list part numbers or distinguish which is which. The channels on both the body and trunk go all the way around.

you may want to look at the 1935-1937 120 Body Manual here on the website. It has a lot of information and pictures which may answer some of your questions.

Don, I posted this on my blog a few years ago. The trunk side is the big piece of rubber. I ended up using a generic one from Steele, as it was closest to my original piece. The stuff from Max Merrit was more, and didn't match the original profile. I bought 14 feet of PN 30-0144-87, as it was the best match for the profile of the original weatherstripping. On the gutter strip (the stuff on the body side), I sourced it from MSC, and details on dimensions are in my blog. I think I had to buy 25 ft. With that said, it fell off the first time I washed the car, and I don't think it's needed, so I never re-installed it. The trunk seal is weather-tight without it.
