I then spent some time hand buffing the paint on the car. The lacquer paint job wasn't really a great paint job when it was applied back in the 1950's. It paint was very thin and I don't think it had great coverage even when it was first applied.

But, I did my best to bring out whatever shine was left in it.

The car had three different brands of tires on it. Four of the tires actually held air although they all need to be replaced before they car is driven anywhere.

But, I couldn't put my freshly painted and detailed hubcaps on a dirty wheel and tire. So, I cleaned up the old tires (even the ones that didn't hold air!), matched up the wheel paint to some unfaded portions on the backside of the wheels, and gave them a quick spray.

This photo is actually one of the original hubcaps that I cleaned up and hand painted.

I did a bit more detailing on the car but then I had to go back to one of my other projects. Overall, I would call the car a "17 footer".

It's not quite a "10 footer" but it is better than a "20 footer". Tires are shot, top is super fragile and falling apart, and the engine is torn apart. BUT! It looks good sitting in my garage right now!
