On the split piece, if it can't come out without major difficulty any chance you could fill the split with glue and then pull the pieces together with several screws long enough to reach across the crack to grab the other side.

Howard, that was my first through. But its been split for so long, that now it's also both warped and dry rotted. When this car was left outdoors for many years exposed to weather, it for sure did a number on the wood.

Kev, just so you know to be aware that if you cut the wood down from a larger plank you will have a part with 'stacked' grain. This results in a brittle form that snaps easily under load at the grain 'steps'. The reason to bend the wood beam is to have a continuous long grain from one end to the other and result in a very strong member. There is a lot of forces on a vehicle going down a road and cornering that can cause this failure. You have pointed out the great difficulty in replacing this component in an unfinished car, do you want to try and do so in one after it is done?

Acutely aware. That is why when I made the rear top bow, I made it as a laminated assembly to take advantage of the strength of the grain direction.

Great! That will work really well. Good luck on the fabricating, it will be quite the job.

This is two coats of epoxy DTM primer.

It laid down pretty well. It's been awhile since I sprayed paint.
