I forgot to post this last week when the emblem came in. I just need to repaint the black on the actual trunk shield and I think it will be good to go.

Ok that one piece of wood is done. Hardest part was drilling through the front and blindly trying to hit hidden bracket holes on the backside. I made a little sheetmetal pointer that allowed be to locate the holes.

I used a 1/8" bit to locate the holes, then used a fostner bit to create the flat bottom holes, and drilled the bolt holes out to 1/4".

So this is what the other side which wasn't as rotten, but still need to replaced, looks like.

And this is what the replacement on the other side now looks like.

This was the worst rotten wood on the car which is from the rumbleseat drain gutter smashing on it. So I bent up a 22ga sheet metal cover for it.

Now I just need to prime it, and seam seal to and then I will stand by a 85 year warranty on it.

Unlike later cars, the gutter is actually a seperate piece of metal that is nailed through the body flange, and into the wood framing. The nails are countersunk a bit to form a dimple, and then filled with lead.

The wood is was rotten to the point that the gutter was rolling down underneath the flange. Once the wood was replaced it pushed the gutter back to where it was supposed to be.

Finished the wood on the driverside.

Made a run this morning to get more Ash as I didn't have an stock that was thick enough to make the trunk pieces.

Here are the two blanks cut out of the ash, next to the piece I need to replicate.

Here they are cut to rought shape.

Then a grinder with a flap wheel quickly carves the wood to shape. Check for fit along the way.

And after getting in bolted in and nailed in through the gutter.

New engine located, and arranging to to have it shipped from the seller in Calif to the rebuilder in Texas. It's a rebuilt engine that need final assembly. Which is fine as it let's Russell (rebuilder) give everything a check over.

Also, he need to do some clutch stuff and break-in. So when I get it back it will be ready to drop in and run.
