If you hook your remote starter switch to these two terminals when you press the switch it will energize the solenoid, which in turn will energize your starter.
![]() On the farm we just used a screwdriver, or whatever we could find to jump the starter. LOL

Got it. I was going from the positive terminal. I'll try that.
Fuel lines are all on. The new filter I ordered doesn't seem to be the correct thread size so I used the old one after cleaning it. Filled tank with five gallons of non ethanol rec fuel. Replaced coil. I'll need to get a different bracket or grind the old one off the original. Pulling the plugs next. Just labled the wires. Then time to crank - hopefully with remote starter.

Using the Positive terminal is what would normally happen, but our cars are Positive ground.
There shouldn't be any reason that you fuel pump isn't going to work just fine, but good to verify. Check to make sure you have spark at on of your plugs when you have them out. Key will need to be on to energize the coil. Once you have fuel and spark you should be good to go! I think you're close!

Pulled plugs, ran remote start, cranking...and we have fuel pumping through the filter. Time to reinstall plugs and check spark.

Yay!
You can just connect a spark plug while it's out and with the key on and the spark plug grounded you can see if there is spark. Hopefully a bright blue spark. Keep your battery well charged while your working in your car.

I used an inline spark tester and I don't have spark on cylinder 1 or 2. Didn't check the others.
I have a fuel leak on the line running to the carb at one of the connections. I'll have to address that and spark in the morning. On the charger when not being turned over. Thanks for the tip.

Hopefully the fuel leak is an easy fix.
No spark........... If you have power to your new coil, and it's connected correctly (+ to the dist and - to the ignition as per the diagram I posted the other day.) there must be another issue, probably the original issue from a couple of years ago. Next step, along with fixing your fuel leak, may be to install your new points, condenser and distributor cap. When you do that check these little wires to make sure they're okay. ![]() Also check the wire from the coil to the distributor to make sure it looks okay. The issue must be between the coil and the plugs, and hopefully your new ignition components will fix it. Because the car was running one minute, and then after fueling up it wouldn't run, something failed, which may be a bad connection in your ignition system somewhere. My first two thoughts would have been the common culprits, vapour lock or bad coil, but must be something else.

Back to the car finally. I have the rest of the day.
I did run a new wire from the distributor to the positive terminal on the coil as the old one had bad connections. Is the appropriate way to test for power at the coil via both terminals on the coil? I will re-read your guidance before proceeding.

Good to have run that new wire, that eliminates that as a possible issue.
With your key on is your coil getting 6 volts? Positive lead to ground, negative to the negative side of your coil. ![]()
