On my 120, there was only wire mesh. It was a fine mesh, looked mostly like the mesh in a coffee maker that doesn't require a paper filter basket.
Not sure what the fuzzy stuff was!

It should have only the mesh. It almost looks as though someone dropped a paper towel into the pan and it disintegrated! I just went through a similar process on my 1951’s but in that case it had petrified oil as hard as a rock that took considerable work and finally disassembly to get it all out.

Yeah I'm voting paper towel or the like. I can imagine someone tearing off a small piece to wipe an oil spill on the filler neck and dropping it in on accident.
