Hello Packard Fans,

I need a crankshaft for a 56 Patrician, 375 CI, engine. Another option is a rebuilt engine.

Thanks

Joe

Paging Ross...

I'm assuming the 375 is a typo; if not then that's 5 thou of cylinder wear 🤔

All '56 crankshafts and 55 seniors are the same part number. I have a pretty darned nice one you could run with maybe a .001 or.002 bearing set on the center mains and the rest all standard.

I also have a NOS 55 Clipper 320 crank which is exactly the same except that you would need to have it rebalanced to account for the heavier '56 pistons.

And if push comes to shove I have a 374 all freshened up with new bearings timing chain, lifters, rings, and valve job. Please PM for details.

Hi, Joe,

The more readily available 352" crankshafts can be used, assuming the rotating assembly is rebalanced.

Before settling upon a crankshaft, confirm the availability of the main bearings. AFAIK, thre are no .010" and few .020". The STD, .001" and .002" are currently available, but finding a crankshaft which can use these is not common.

FWIW, as might be expected, along with everything else, Packard V8 rebuild parts costs have increased. We're currently at least six months out on new rebuild orders. If one is ever going to rebuild, now is the time.

Hello Ross,

Please give email me (packard56@charter.net) with a quote for the engine. Include your phone number and will call you.

Thanks,

Joe
