So with ATF and acetone, and a fair bit of scratching out the carbon buildup at the screen against its seat, I was able to begin to see movement of the assembly.
I continued pushing inside at the screen and working the plug with a wooden dowel inside the center hole, and lifting with a 90º probe into a hole at the top end, and it finally broke free! Lots of cleaning to be done inside the fuelizer chamber... Mission accomplished...
