Just needs some gentle nudging in the right direction!LOL Seriously, if the mechanic has done good work for you before, keep them and the two of you learn together. I have a small town mechanic, their work ethic is fantastic, they fight over who gets to work on the Packard because as one told me "I can't stand the computer telling me what to do!"LOL The only thing my mechanic can't really tackle is the wiring issue and I have located another that is ready to tackle the issue (I really think they didn't get it grounded solidly, we'll find out) but my mechanic sent a picture to the wiring shop, they are excited to work on it! And I loan them my reproduction repair manual, leaving it in the front seat when I drop the car off! Flexibility is the key. Best of luck!
