I'll add on to the welcome! I was 29 when I got my first Packard, and this group was super helpful.
Ross Miller's videos are superb. Another good set of videos, which I think you can find on YouTube, are by Mark Lambert. This first epsisode, where he works on a 1938 Packard, is here: Edit - apparently you have to have an HBO Max subscription to watch the Mark Lambert videos. Best of luck! I've done a lot to two 1937s, so feel free to ask any questions. We'll help as best we can!

Looks like the brakes are good, the only issue is the front right one pulls the car to the right on hard/sudden braking. First repair down! We had to replace the battery, looks like a dead cell.

I would go through the brake adjustment procedure in the the video I linked. Pretty easy to do. The front right might be adjusted tighter than the others, causing it to grab more. Adjusting the eccentrics (covered in the video) may also be a good idea, since we don't know how the brakes were adjusted prior to you owning the car.

In addition to Kevin's comments above, a brake shoe can also grab if the lining has gotten contaminated with brake fluid or grease.
If you find a contaminated shoe, you'll have to replace it as no amount cleaning will decontaminate it.

I would actually re-do all the brake hydraulics and hoses regardless what a previous owner has told you. You have no idea what was done or how well it was done and too much at stake if something is amiss.

Treat unknown brakes on an old car like your arch-enemy last worked on them.

Congratulations on your vehicle! It is quite a nice car
I think you deserve buying yourself a model car from Tintin, despite the different colour. It was driven by a fictional king and my late dad bought me this comic book during a business trip around 2007, likely in France (but gladly he bought the English version) ![]() ![]() ![]() (back then Eastern European and Balkan head of states collectively really liked buying Packard thus the King Ottokar in Tintin driving a black one was pretty reasonable.) I am rather young myself too (not that young for owning a car, but for owning a Packard, yes. I was considering Armstrong Siddeley or Tatra also and obviously owning a Packard is more feasible) and there is a chance I am still the most youthful looking owner here ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I want to own an Alvis maybe. Even though I like Triumph, but having a Dinky Triumph with a Miata NB is far less stressful (with AC too), even though I am tempted by MG RV8 also ![]() There is still a dead Mercedes C36 in rented storage unit ![]() (but too bad 1951-54 Packard is an extremely rare model to be chosen as a diecast. Closest would be Brooklin in 1/43, Greenlight in 1/64 for the Caribbean and Franklin Mint's 1/43 version. You are luckier to have more choices for your bodystyle)
