The shop is putting in some long hours to get Birdie ready (but not quite done) for the parade on Saturday. They just sent me these two pictures. The foot rest and jump seats will be done later.

Just look at that woodgraining by Ron!

As of 10pm on Friday, Birdie is home for a few days of fun! Then, back to the shop on Tuesday to finish.

Tomorrow is the county fair parade and car show. It should be fun for Mom and Dad to see the car along with some family on Dad’s side.
Mom and Dad have seen lots of pictures along the way, but the parade will be the first time for them to actually see the car.

I forgot to say why it was 10pm getting Birdie home. It would have been about four hours earlier except there was a mishap at the shop at about 10am. The new windshield had been installed, but they found something that wasn’t right and had to pull the windshield back out. Then, when re-installing, they broke it. So, they were able to get their glass guy to cut a new one and get it to them the same day. But, they said it was the tightest fit of about any car they’ve done and it took a few hours to get the new windshield in.

But, they got it and it looks great!

More pictures to come but none better than these. Today, a checked off a MAJOR item off my bucket list, which was to do whatever I could to make sure Mom and Dad got to see the car done. That happened today, even if Birdie isn’t quite 100% yet.

Along with Mom and Dad, I had my brother, two aunts, and uncle and a bunch of cousins who came to see Birdie. That made the day really special for me and Dad.

The parade gave Birdie’s cooling system a good test. It was pretty warm out and she did alright for going about 40 minutes at 2-3 mph. At the end of the parade she had gotten up to about 200 degrees.








Oh, and though I really don’t care at all about car show awards, Birdie got a Top 10 award out of over 150 cars and probably the best award of People’s Choice award. And she’s not even done yet!

Even though it heated up...take comfort in knowing that your temp. gauge works in the upper range...many only register up to 180F if they're not dialed in.
