The (New Jersey) Lakeland Region of the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America (VCCA) again hosted their multi-make show in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey on Sunday past. This is a very nice, long-running event, drawing about 150 cars. This year they had a special recognition for Packards in a special class with special appreciation awards, and we had 18 Packards if I counted correctly. I'll post some pictures later, but the cars included a 1932 Light Eight fixed head coupe (style 558); 1934 Eight sedan (mine); 1935 120 sedan (Canadian-built but LHD, all original and very presentable); 1936 120 sedan; 1937 120 convertible coupe with sidemounts; 1938 Eight sedan; 1941 180 138"wb 5 pass sedan w/AC; 1941 160DE DeLuxe convertible coupe; 1947 2103 Super Clipper sedan; a pair of 22nd series Custom 8 sedans, one a very early car and the other a factory-renumbered car; 1950 Eight sedan; 1954 Cavalier, a 1956 Patrician; a 1956 Caribbean convertible; a 1956 Executive 2-dr; a 1956 400, and a 1958 Hawk. Pretty good turn-out for an event that probably only draws from a 30 mile or so radius.

Noteworthy among the other cars were 2 pre-1910 Pierce's including a multi-national-award-winning 2 cylinder (1904?), driven to the show.

The hotrodhotline site didn't do much for pictures of Packards, so here's some. Note especially the correct but not-often seen correct hood ornament on the 35 (Canadian-built) 120. Also as regards the MES 56 Caribbean, two other folks there with different Packards own one in the the same colors, but this one was unknown to us, owner has had it over 20 years and claimed this was the first show he's taken it to.

Still on local (to NJ) shows, here's a few pictures from the PAC regional covered bridge tour a few weeks ago, and from the North Jersey Auto Show in Upper Saddle River, NJ. The 1955 Caribbean convertible is basically an original car and is owned by Dan Kanter of Kanter Bros.

Visited the Concours d'Elegance of the Eastern United States (aka the Burn Foundation Concours) in Nazareth PA yesterday, had the pleasure of meeting John Shireman and family. I'd guess about 150-175 cars on display, all former prestige award-winners.

Though the physical venue can't match Pebble, Amelia, Meadowbrook, or even Greenwich CT, the selection and condition of the cars was just excellent. Not too many Packards and I'll only picture one, George M. Cohan's last limousine, from the Bob Turnquist collection. This car is a 1708 (1939) and 100% original, looks like it could have rolled out of the showroom 6 week ago. I think you should be able to identify the others by the photo caption but if not, let me know. ED - W-K = Willys-Knight (sleeve valve engine).

It was certainly a pleasure meeting David ( Owen Dyneto ) at the Burns Foundation Concours yesterday. I to took some pictures at the Concours over three hundred but I am having trouble posting them. I think I am running into the problem that they may be to large and I don't know how to down size them for posting here in this thread.

Maybe someone would be kind enough to give some directions on how I can get the photos down sized so that I can post some pictures.

The was a wide range of fine cars there including some Packards. The grandson and I had a ball looking and admiring them all.

If anyone would like a dvd of the pictures I took at the Concours send me a PM.

An easy way I found to make prints smaller for uploading is right click on the in the file explorer and then choose send to mail recipient. A dialog box will then ask what size (original or smaller sizes). Choose one of the smaller sizes and a outlook email will pop up with the pictures attached to that email. Just copy and paste them to a temp folder to upload.

You do know how to copy and paste using the right click of a mouse?

You might also consider using Adobe Photoshop Elements. I scan my original silver halide prints into Photoshop where I can easily crop, adjust size, brightness and contrast.

Here's one more, a 1933 Packard Twelve cabriolet deVille by Fernandez and Darrin. Those who were at Warren in 1999 should recognize this car, and Jersities may note from the very early historic license plate that it's had the same owner (Bob Briglia) since the 1960s.
