Hi All, I am looking at replacing the firewall insulator pad on my '39 Six and was wondering if anyone has suggestions re 'who and how much'. I see several suppliers online and the 'going price' seems to be in the $350 range - anybody have any experience with a particular vendor? Any advice on fitment or product quality? Appreciate any guidance that might be available. Chris.

I used a molded plastic one in my '39 Packard Six and when it is in it looks very nice. The carpet covers a lot of it, I elected to use front carpet instead of the original rubber mat, it is much nicer and quieter. It was not difficult to install but I do not remember where I got it.

I belive Quiet Ride is the only company that makes these. Everyone else just resells theirs.
I made mine from scratch as I needed a custom one.

I purchased one from here quietride.com when I did the refurbish of my 31.
Fit was spot on. It does have a plasticish sheen to it but it didn't bother me a bit.

Thanks much for the replies - I followed up on the suggestions and found the 'Quietride' option to be 'the one'. Shopping around a bit on Black Friday, I caught a sale through an outfit called Southern Car Parts who retails the Quietride product and got a pretty deep discount. The surface, while being plastic, is manufactured with a textured design and matte finish that makes it look quite like the jute-based ones that most of the cars seem to have. I'll see how it fits and attaches upon arrival, but I did print a copy of it and crawled around under the dash and compared it with the existing one and it looks accurate. They're not cheap though! Chris.
