In 1952 only the Patrician (400) had the 9-main bearing engine.

Check your engine serial number from Packard Literature and Manuals, see link below, to identify whether yours is a 5 or 9 main bearing.

G'day all, I would suggest that you look at your crankcase under the exhaust, near the sump interface. You will find where the holes for the main bearing lubrication are sealed. You will find 5 grubscrews along the crankcase for a five main and nine grubscrews for a nine main bearing.
Hope you find nine grubscrews. Peter Toet

The engine number for your 1952 300 should be in the range of K400000 series. The 400 engine number are in the K6000000 series. I hope you find a K6xxxxx number.
