I believe that the Super Eight 385 is a longer engine than the Standard Eight 320. Don't quote me on the accuracy of this, as I've never seen either one up close and in person, just what I've heard.

There's a reason that the Super 8 chassis is a mimimum 6.5 inches longer than a standard 8. Car lengths are identical from the cowl back. Won't fit.

I have an '31 standard eight (833) in need of an engine.
Does anyone out there know if there is a direct bolt in interchange for this engine - ie 29, 30, 32? I am trying to make this as easy as possible - ie. use my transmission etc. All help is appreciated. Thanks Dongle

I'm pretty sure that a standard eight from 1929-'31 will fit. There may be more in either direction as well. There are many engines in the Dayton Packard museum of that vintage and they are for sale. Some people have a hard time dealing with the randomness of museum and the way in which they sell parts, but others are able to get what they need. It's best if you can show up in person after making an appointment.

The museum's a good idea - where else can you go to Packard Dealer and ask for the Parts Department? I found it easy enough to look if you call and have a guide.
