Hello,

I have owned 1956 Packards since 1965. The brakes were always a problem. Craig and Eric inspired me to seek a solution. I designed my booster setup and the disc brakes on my computer. This allowed me to visualize the fit of the components. The booster and brakes were installed this summer. For the first time my wife and I truly enjoyed the Patrician. The second generation disc brakes are now being designed with Wilwood calipers. I posted these pictures on a different thread. Maybe it will help someone.

Jerry, where did you mount all the relays and circuit breaker that were on the inner front fender? And what are the two extra hoses function?

Randy,

I did not move anything except the washer bottle. The hoses are for the air conditioner. The pictures show the installation from a different angle. I hope this helps. I included a picture of bench fitting the booster and pedal to check pedal ratio and angle before drilling the hole for the pushrod.

Looks good. I suppose it is spaced out away from the firewall to obtain proper pedal attitude and ratio. Especialy nice set up since it retains OEM brake pedal. My set up does not.

But how is the conversion braced to eleminate fire wall flexing???? The firewall is a lot like the bottom of an oil can.

PackardV8,

Look on page 5 and it shows the firewall between the inner and outer support plates. This is picture of the inside of the firewall.

Jerry I take it that the fresh air ducting on the drivers side also has to be removed?

A few months ago HH56 or someone posted a pic of this area for the FACTORY AC models. I can't find it.

But YesterdaysRadio set up gives me the idea that maybe the factory AC blower plenum could be modified with a tube thru the centre of it to allow for the pedal pushrod.

I'd hate to butcher a factory plenum that way but it mite be a last resort effort in view of an easy conversion.
