HELP!- I am not finding 410465 in any parts book, yet that is what is clearly marked on the package of this bearing. Me thinks either differential or axle bearing...its big and I will post a picture if not immediately apparent. Joel found 410471 bearing assembly is composed of a 410466 race and a 410465 bearing. Now what the 410471 fits Joel don't know.

I'm not saying this is one of them, but there are quite a few parts whose # doesn't appear in the parts book as they were assigned after the book was compiled and printed. Usually these are new parts assigned as problems arose or upgrades were implemented and are covered only in the TSB's and Service Counselors.

It would be really handly if someone would read thru those documents and compile a list of part numbers not listed in the parts book, and their application.

I just reviewed all service counselors to 1948, no luck, however it seems pretty likely this part number was "issued" post 1948. I suspect since this number doesn't appear until the 55-56 parts book, it is a superceding number. (though every other bearing purchased at the same time is pre-48, and the box has the older blue/white label) My personal suspicion is differential or transmission bearing due to open/roller design. Probably transmission? Can't think of any other application. Not Axle or Pinion as those would be tapered roller style, at least post '37. There are a couple pre'37 pinion bearings that are similar in design?

The bearing itself is 100mm x 25mm x 45mm, big, thrust face roller bearing. MRC-7309. There is no race/cup as might be suggested by Joel's info...maybe this was supplied with a shim/washer for whatever purpose and simply titled as such? Hopefully this will help narrow it down. Its no good to anyone if I can't figure out what it fits!

That # is listed in Hollander's 16th Edition, and it probably had a pretty wide range of use as was also carried by Fafnir, SKF, Ahlberg, Norma, Federal, BCA, and others. If I find time I'll check all the individual listings to find the application.

UPDATE: No apparent use of #7309 in Packard, 1942 and prior. But it has a lot of use in trucks, Autocar, Brockway, Corbitt, Diamond T, Federal, GMC, Indiana, International, Mack, Ward-LaFrance and White, primarily in 4x4 transfer cases during the WW II years. I did not see any passenger car applications.

Since this number is found in 55-56 parts book and not in 48-54 book I would think it is in a V8 Packard. It is listed this way in the parts book.
410471 1-410465
............1-410466
which gives no indication of where it belongs.
410465 list price is $10.70
410466 list price is $4.28
These were fairly expensive parts.

For what it is worth-7309 is an angular contact bearing-according to the MRC catalogue-designed to take thrust in one direction. Sometimes used in pairs to get higher thrust capability in both directions. The raceway is machined different on the outer vs the inner race.

It seems too big to have been used for any passenger car application.

I wonder if it might be for the gearbox from one of the postwar marine engines.

Off the cuff guess: Chev or GMC 3/4 ton rear axle wheel bearing for pick-up truck ca. 1970. Probabaly 1958 thru late 80's or even to present. I'll try to look it up tomorrow.

I think wheel bearings are roller type vs a ball type bearing-309 is not that big of a bearing. Probable uses are in the transmission or rear axle.
