Here is a more detailed video of the car. They repeat the "Only 3 manual trans Caribbean's" meme.

Also, he shows pictures of the interior & the extremely odd looking clutch pedal. It really looks odd.

We really shouldn't be discussing this as it hijacked the standard transmission thread and the "thread police" will arrive shortly.

It does look kind of out of place as pedal is same as one would have with manual brake car. Believe that is all that was ever offered--no suspended pedal or anything to match the power brakes in height. The only concession seems to be a different pad for standards when used with PB. In another thread, one poster mentioned seeing or having a standard shift & power brake car with pedal same height as brakes. It doesn't show in parts book so not sure exactly what he has.

Here is the best scan I could get of '55 Caribbean 5588-1263 last seen in Prescott Az about (10) years ago. The clutch pedal was large and square. The power brake pedal was of the '55 variety. Still wish I'd bought that car!

Hey All,

If you get the luck to drive one of these TreadleVac with manual shift you will find that by the time you're around the block the set up is good.

The brake pedal is on the same plane as the accelerator and your left leg doesn't care about what field the right foot is moving in.

The thing works natural.

3 speed and 3 speed with OD was available on all 55 and 56 Clippers, and I'm sure the factory would provide a senior car with a standard transmission if the buyer was willing to pay for it. This was certainly true in 1956 when Packard was desparate to sell cars. As for the "awkward" clutch pedal towering over the Easamatic brake pedal, this was the standard packard setup. A friend has a 53 Cavalier with 3 speed and OD and it has this rather strange mismatched pedal arrangement.
