I need a video on 1934 King pin Replacement. When is will you have that one published?

Tom, though diassembly is a bit different from more modern cars, king pin removal/replacement is pretty basic, simple and obvious once you take a close look at it, and the picture in the parts book will also be helpful. Our friend Irish Packard just when thru this with his 34, why not start out by looking at that thread and pictures.

PS - what most people miss, take a look at the pictures, is that access to the pin and upper bearing is by removing the large threaded cap at the top. It's the piece the grease fitting is threaded into, and should have a hex-head for removal.

Dear Tom,

I have never actually taken apart the 34 king pins. However, Tom Rasmussen at Odyssey restoration re-did the king pins on the 34 a little bit ago. I am sure he would be more than happy to discuss the process with you.

He is listed in the Packard Directory on this site under services.

Cheers,

Thomas

You new site is extremely well done and, in my opinion, much nicer than the old site (which was very well done, too, I might add). My only comment at this time is that you should have a link to each project. For instance, when I clicked on "1930 Packard sedan," I see all the write-ups of your projects, but no link to the corresponding photos. I see you have all the photos under "1930 Packard sedan photos," but it would be nice to quickly link to the photos from the text page. And vice versa, where you have the photos, is it possible to link to the text???

Welcome back, by the way. I think that more than a few of us were getting a little concerned about you.

West,

It is good to be back. The last few months have been extremely aggravating!

The linking to the pictures from the blog is a good idea. I am still working on putting pictures inline with the text on the blog. After that I will add the links.

I also need to get the movies moved over, and the rest of the photos (over 2000 photos to date!).

It has been kind of fun to re-create the site. I am amazed at all the stuff that has so far gone into this restoration, and I am amazed at all the stuff I have forgotten that I did!

I hope winter is treating you well.

Cheers,

Thomas

Dear All,

Things have been progressing on the 1930, but my blogging has been quite slack. There are a few more blog entries since last December, and a lot more photos.

Blog entries are here, and photos are here.

I would promise to be more consistent with my updates, but that would be foolish.

Cheers,

Tom

Dear All,

I have updated the Packard Paddock with a blog entry on creating a new float for the crankcase oil level gauge. There is no separate photo album, as all the photos are in the blog entry.

Cheers,

Tom

Lots of progress on the front end. The bijur lubricator lines for the brakes are fixed, the steering cross tube is installed, and the brake actuators are hooked up. This thing is starting to look like a car again!

No blog entry, but photos of the bijur line repairs are here, the steering cross tube installation here, and the brake arm installation here.

Thanks for following along!
