For those following the Wade's Workshop blog, Wade had a call from his engine guy this morning. This guy, Graham, is also doing the work on the '39 120 engine that Harvey's rebuilding for his boss and that's what the call was about. Graham needs to know the TUNNEL size not journal size of both the Big-end and Main bearings on a '39 120 282. Info found today gives journal sizes for both bearings but not the tunnel size for either. Anybody?

But I couldn't find the 120 Tunnel sizes for the Main or Big-End bearings there, did I miss them in trying to read side-on tables?

Mal,
As I remember, it was in the mechanical specification section. I hope I haven't given you a bad bit of advice. Best of luck, Jim

That information is in a shop specifications manual published by bearing manufacturers. Most auto machine shopss will have this book. Trouble is, if a certain manufacturer no longer makes bearings for a particular engine, they don't put the specs in their book either. By comparing three different books, I think I have pieced together the specs you want. Try main line (tunnel) bore 2.936", and Con Rod big end bore 2.220".

Try main line (tunnel) bore 2.936", and Con Rod big end bore 2.220". for that info and taking the time to piece together the specs. Should have posted this earlier but it was overlooked, sorry. Fortunately it confirms the info sheet that JD at Max Merritt's had emailed to Wade a couple of days ago. If it hadn't we'd be in real trouble now that's Wade passed the info on to Graham, pheeew.....! Pic below of the info from JD, click on it to get an enlarged image.
