I'd like to bid as well, but somehow I don't think this is the place for it. The best home for this in the Packard Proving Grounds museum, or similar. Sent you a PM with that in mind.

Granatelli: The best advice on how much it might be worth is take it to a local antique appraiser and have them put a value on it. Until you get a value put on it don't do anything or be in hurry to sell.
I would then go ahead and entertain private offers but don't be shy about putting it up for sale on ebay. You have something rare there and don't be afraid to demand top dollar for it. John F. Shireman

Gerd, it came to me in a morning haze. Seemed theoretically plausible to me then. I too noticed the magical inscriptions when I blew it up. I think it says something like,"One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them..."
Jeez John, and Dave, blocking me out on a cool procurement here dudes. I was just testing the water. I watch Antiques Roadshow and there's always those folks who "were just wondering how much grandmas old wedding ring, with hand freshly detached, is worth." Was seeing what kind of reaction I'd get.

Thank you for your advice, but I still don't know what it is. Not sure how to explain it. On the aluminum arm it says AC Spark Plug. Any Ideas? Joe

I really think it some kind of apparatus for testing spark plugs. Perhaps instead of the word Tensio.....the word should be Tension. As in High Tension. If you look at the hand written notes in the box, then is mention of spark plugs and a power supply.
Also if you look at the large wire coming out of the body of the aluminum gizmo, they almost look like the kind of terminal that plugs a plug wire could attach to. Perhaps this attached to the top of the spark plug, and the the spark plug wire attach to the it. Maybe something similar to this:

Gentlmen,
I can open the paper if it would help. Was feared it might crumble. It mentions something to do with AC Spark Plug Company; pre 1930. Any thoughts Joe G.
