It is called a pump check needle and it installs point down. The other needle is part of the needle and seat assembly, which controls gas flow into fuel bowl. Good luck.

Thanks Dallas. Is there meant to be spring with this check valve? Does anyone have a full exploded diagram of this carb? None of the carb manuals for WDO that I have seen actually show this pump check valve, they just mention it as part of disassembly/assembly routine. Other versions of WDO seem to use a check ball.

No spring. Needle is installed into cavity point down, then special screw is installed along with discharge nozzles. There is a very good picture in the 1942 Service Manual. Good luck
