JT - note that the stainless steel windshield center trim strip runs up into the roof? That's a quick visual clue that it's not a 1937.

I too saw the car, and can attest it is a very nice complete and untouched example. The owner at first wasn't sure whether it was a '37 or '38. So here are some more cues:

3 of 4 hubcaps say "Eight" one says "120", in '38 the 120 was rebadged the Packard Eight. There is no ID plate, assume it was the often missing 1938 ID decal, and I'm fairly certain the wheelbase is greater than 120 inches -- a '38 change.

From the grill design it's not a 37- the grill is the same as my 38. Also a 38's have a decal and not a plate for the VIN-easy enough to check.

Phil, a little piece of Packard trivia for you, apparently the Canadian-built 38 Packards continued to use a metal patent (VN) plate, I ran across this during my data-gathering for the thief-proof project and the owner thoughtfully provided me with a photo of the plate.

I too agree with the guys that said it is a '38 Eight. The car looks just like mine, center trim up the roof, hubcaps that say Packard Eight not 120, and the firewall plate is a decal not a metal plate. I too have a '38 Eight. So where is this car? How is the interior? How are the running boards? Power train? Love to see photos of the inside... Enjoy the baby...

I too am certain this is a '38. I think Don will agree. However, the title does say 1937. I will tell you from personal experience that while getting a title for 55 400 the lady at DMV said her computer showed the vin numbers as a 56 and it would be titled as so. Cut and dried. The car she titled is a 55. Certain. Could be the same situation here. The interior is great on this car, runs and drives, at last I heard that the fuel tank needed a douching and that was about it. The tires seemed to be in good shape. It is just a really clean car.
