OK, up date on my search for a float.
Daytona here in Fla. does not have one. Classic carbs. - no reply as of today. Max Merritt can make a aluminium one for 125. Classic Exotic can make a brass one for 100. / they are currently testing a prototype. anyone have any suggestions?? thanks, Dave

If for no reason other than the fact that it's the traditional material of construction, I'd be in favor of brass. And having bought other remanufactured parts (mostly Bragg Kliesrath power brake parts) from them, I'd have good confidence in Classic and Exotic to produce a quality part. $100 seems pretty inexpensive, I'd not want to have to make it for that price.

i received my new float from Classic Exotic and its fits perfect and works great. no more gas leaking from the airhorn. the idle is better and the acceleration is great.

Traditional, all-brass floats are also in reproduction, from Automotive Restorations in Lebanon, NJ. 908-236-6400. They are also a source for the repair of the pre-1932 Pines Winterfront thermostats, and Bijur diaphrams.
