Today, I secured the first step in starting on my new project, a turbocharged 9 main 327. I went to Ponca City, Oklahoma to look at a "supposed 9 main out of a '53 or '54 Patrician" and found this:

So now I have my 9 main 327, and all it took was a trade on some Hudson parts that I've been wanting to get rid of for a long time. I realize that it's "a little worse for wear", but I'm going to be going through the engine totally, so this doesn't bother me that much. I've fixed a lot worse looking engines anyway. When I get done with it, it'll look like this: (minus the aluminum head though)

Now it's time to find out just what I'm going to do with this engine...

It was just waiting for you to come along and rescue it Eric. So, together with the Mayfair, things are starting to roll. I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together. Best of luck,

Eric,

Not sure if it is still out there, but there was a '53 or '54 Carib hood on Ebay that would work perfectly for your project. I saw it there sometime last week.

It sold already, for something like $500. I plan on taking the spare hood I have now and making one. It doesn't look like it'll be too hard, I just don't want to ruin the only hood I had on the car, so a spare is nice to have.

This actually doesn't look too hard to reproduce, and will give some nice added cooling to the engine and turbos!

After all the trouble I've went through on trying to get this Mayfair, it seems now the guy changed his mind and doesn't want to sell it after all. I knew something seemed shady when he was telling me "I gotta see what I have in it, I'll call you later this week" and "I gotta see if I can find the title for it, I have it around here somewhere" and everything else, our agreed on price of $500 seems to have evaporated. So now, I have the engine, but no car to put it in. I'll go ahead and rebuild the engine to my tastes waiting for a car to put it in. I already have an idea....
