I have posed a question on my restoration blog in regards to my voltage regulator consistently sticking after long periods of non-use. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated.

Since the points "wipe" as they close, using a point file to dress them is a poor practice as it leaves tiny ridges which can grip and hold. There were (still are?) special abrasive "sticks" to clean and dress voltage regular points. You might try that, and then readjust the airgap afterwards.

All I think I've ever used is regular bond paper, actually.

How about a coat of dielectric grease to prevent the sticking?

West, somewhere I have a stash of those VR point cleaners, if I run across them and remember, I'll send you a PM and we can arrange for me to mail them to you.
