Read the caption. I interpret the caption to indicate that unorthodox details of the car exist. Also it is rare that these captions indicate any kind of specific photo location.

I'm wondering if the car belonged to some PMCC executive as a kind of drive and test company car.

Who could it have possibly belonged to???? Grosse Point indicates a top level (probably eng'ring) executive's house.

Might be a good history trace to see what the house looks like today. Since Grosse point is a very old and conservative suburb of Detroit i'm guessing GP has not changed much over the last 75 years.

In the Random Photos section at the right look at photos 82, 83, 101, and 122. All seem to be taken at the same residence. No. 122 has a caption that says it was taken at Alvin Maculey's home. I think this is where your photo was taken. I read some where that his residence was often used as a back drop for Packard publicity photos. Maybe readers from the Detroit area know about current condition of Maculey's home.

I wonder if the house is located in the Indian Village neighbourhood of Detroit. I recall that Edsel Ford lived there before moving out to Grosse Pointe. My grandfather told me that in the 1920's he serviced the oil furnace in Henry Leland's home located in this area. It is highly likely many of the auto pioneers had homes in Indian Village as well. Indian Village was (and is) a very prestigeous historic neighbourhood before Gross Pointe became fashionable. A check of any of the Detroit city directories during the 1920's and 1930's would probably give an address for Mr. McCauley.

Clipper47, I went back and looked at photo #122 in the 1937 section of the photo archive. The caption says it was taken at Alvin Macauley's residence in Grosse Pointe. There are many photos in the 1937 section that appear to have been taken at the Macauley's residence. My favorite one is the Brooks Stevens designed station wagon.

There was a high school in downtown Royal Oak michigan named Dondero. Dondero was not a common name in the area so these people probably related to the schools name sake.

They probably lived in Royal Oak.
