sorry guy's. i'm still a bit of a dumb ass at this computer thing. i'm not sure how to combine these posts i've put up. so here we go again. i ended up buying the '48' packard australian bodied ambulance. here's a pic. if any one knows who the body builder is please let me know. or if you have any comments. as far as i know the previous owner thinks that the body was made in melbourne and that the ambulance served it's time in the blue mountains in new south wales. thanks. also ignore the orange on the bonnet.

Hi all, especially oibrag. I am 99 percent certain that the bodymaker was Martin and King in melbourne. I have the internal bodywork and trim remains of a 48 Martin and King seven passenger mourning coach. The chassis is down the NSW South Coast somewhere. I hope to use some of the parts on my 1605 7 pass convertible project. No, Mal there is not enough to include in Owner's Registry but I feel guilty enough to include some of my other project cars. Best regards Peter Toet.

does anyone have any photo's of any martin and king ambulances or hearses if they built them. i'm also wondering does anyone know if they put a builders plate anywhere on the cars. if so where would a good place be to start looking? as well does anyone know much about Ira L & AC Berk (packard) LTD. they were in sydney. i think they still operate but now it is a panel shop (i think). also did they build ambulances and hearses does anyone know. thanks.

oibrag,

I've sent you an email with Sam Irwin's phone number. Sam, a long time member of PACA, the Packard Automobile Club of Australia, has many Ira Berk records. If he can't help you from his archives then probably no one can. But be prepared for a long, long conversation because Sam likes to have a chat, especially about Packards!
