Paint it green and let the debate begin!!!!!

Dallas, no debate needed about 1951 and newer. The debate is over 1948-50 where there seems to be good evidence that both green and gray were used, despite the judging standards of the Packard clubs.

Mal, that Packard engine looks like it was rebuilt by a Hudson mechanic! Hudson 308's were painted that gold color.

I did see some chrome paint today to add some "bbling" but that gold....hmmmmmm....

I did see some Ford engine gray, but it was too dark.

Engine Paint-had to add Hosta Leaf Krylon is very close to the green engine paint color used in earlier Packards-now back to the debate

Massey Ferguson engine gray is the PERFECT match. They have two colors, so get the lighter one. Pick it up at your local MF dealership and save the terrible shipping costs too....

Does anyone know if the Massey Ferguson gray is also correct for a 51??

Reread this thread and it looks like the answer to my question is yes.

This site lists 3 types of gray: reg. gray, flint gray and silver gray. Which is it? These samples don't look like the pic BigKev posted of his engine...Massey Ferguseon Enamel Tractor Paint

Also, I don't see a listing for high temp. or is all tractor paint high temp? I know they usually paint the engine and body the same color.
