I had a 1951 200 with an Ultramatic some years back. I found that take off was quicker and easier if I used about 1/3 throttle at the beginning. Flooring the accelerator on take off seemed to confuse the car. Once underway greater throttle opening could be used if needed Regards John Harley

That may be true however given the age of the transmission and the fact that the shift from the low range to the high range wile in motion is, in most cases, violent I would not recommend doing it.
