The fuel pump on my 1937 - 115C needs to be replaced. Would it be wise to replace it with an electric fuel pump? Where can both the manual and the electric fuel pumps be purchased? The existing pump has been welded together so it would probably not be acceptable as a core replacement.

I recommend rebuilding (or in your case, it sounds like you need to replace) the original, and install the electric for back-up. I highly recommend the E-8011 from CarQuest or Napa. No pressure regulator needed, as it puts out less than 4 pounds of pressure.

My 115C has only the mechanical fuel pump. I have driven it to meets and on tours, plus in our neighborhood July 4th parade. The car has never missed a beat and I see no need to install an electric fuel pump. I recommend that you get a good mechanical fuel pump installed and try it for a while before installing an electric one. You may find that you do not need the electric one.

If you go with an electric fuel pump, you will not have the vacuum section for your windshield wipers, so the question is do you drive your car in the rain or are they minimally required for state inspection. As to mechanical or electric, the debate is as old as organic or synthetic fluids. In this case, fuel pumps, I believe a consensus could be agreed upon by recommending both. Particularly if your car catches the dreaded "vapor lock" virus on occasion....
